Summary
The Leadership Coach undertakes direct coaching of participants in the FTLA Program, relationship development, and continued program development. The role reports to the VP of Education.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Leadership Program Manager with the recruitment process for the next class of fellows, from initial on-line application through to final selection and candidate notification.
Coach members to develop leadership competencies and effectiveness in school roles, as well as successfully plan, implement and evaluate their Fellowship project called the Impact Initiative.
Provide regular written progress and assessment reports on members, relative to individual development and student achievement, including a written record (tracker) of each coaching visit, identifying date and time of the session, goal(s) of the session, notes, and action items.
Support members in reflecting and planning with use of data.
Analyze roles, specific responsibilities, common issues and challenges of members in their schools in order to contribute to more effective work with school leaders and to increase FTLAs’ organizational knowledge.
Assist in the development and refinement of FTLAs’ coaching model and coaching reporting system.
Conduct orientation sessions.
Create brochures and training materials.
Develop multimedia visual aids and presentations.
Evaluate needs of company and plan training programs accordingly.
Provide companies with classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
Provide performance feedback.
Provide leadership development education.
Assist with the development of strategic plans.
Maintain ongoing communication with the principal.
Engage principals to best leverage influence and support for members to be effective in their schools.
The Coach will submit three coaching videos (fall, winter and spring) to the VP of education for ongoing support. The VP of education will also offer the option of in-person observations. In addition, the Coach and VP of Education will participate in monthly one hour One-on-One check-ins (August-May) to debrief, set goals, monitor progress towards goals and review survey feedback.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in HR, Learning, Leadership Development, OD, Instructional Design or other related field would be preferred.
0-2 years of experience, strong interest in Leadership Development.
Significant teaching and leadership experience in a high-performing, urban public school.
Discretion in protecting the confidentiality of participants and schools.
Enthusiasm for being assessed and initiative in seeking feedback on performance as a coach.
Strong sense of purpose regarding social justice and/or educational equity.
Successful experience coaching and assessing adults within a given framework that enables skill development.
Experience with project and program management, including strong organizational, evaluative and time management skills.
Ability to engage and work effectively with stakeholders, including program participants and graduates, their family members, a board of directors, the partner high-school principals, university deans, alumni or stakeholder advisory councils, educational teams, and program staff.
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
