Financial Specialist

Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, you will deal with FLR clients in order to help determine short-term and long-term financial objectives and needs, as well as evaluate costs and revenue, make financial presentations and review business trends. The Financial Specialist participates in the general administration of the finance and accounting function, providing analytical support to the FLR team; including but not limited to budgeting, accounting, sales, product sourcing, acquisitions, and growth initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with maintenance of routine company budgets.

• Assist in tracking performance metrics and budget-to-actual performance.

• Identify and monitor industry and competitor trends.

• Organize and present the financial basis for strategic and operational decision making.

• Develops integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations.

• Clearly and concisely communicate conclusions in oral and written form.

• Provides financial analysis and general business expertise to various assigned projects/programs.

• Supports programs strategic decision making with financial analytics. Raises issues and concerns as required.

• Prepares special reports and financial studies for management and alerts them to significant variances to plan.

• Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.

• Responsibilities also include analyzing costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.

• Coordinates, negotiates, and resolves financial compliance issues.

• Monitors and reports performance against plans to ensure that contractual, cost, and schedule objectives are met.

• Works with staff to support the development, update, and monitoring of new and existing business plans for submission to clients.

• Creates financial models to support business planning exercises.

• Identifies financial or operating risks associated with the business plan.

• Work with technology staff to automate and enhance reporting effectiveness.

Requirements:

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.

• Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities.

• Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.

• Able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment.

• Excellent English oral and written communication skills.

• Bachelor’s Degree in a financial field.

• 1-3 years experience as an accountant or analyst preferred.

• Experience or knowledge with GAAP. Education can substitute for experience.

• Good working knowledge skills with Microsoft Office Products, small business accounting software.
